Were the World Mine (Dir. Tom Gustafson, US, 2008)
April 20, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:45 pm CDT
FreeWere the World Mine – Inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a bullied and demoralized gay student at an all-boys school uses a magical flower to turn many in his community gay, to let them take a walk in his shoes.
Alternative Shakespeares comprises a series of eight film screenings and discussions that highlight the diversity of Shakespearean representations on film. Providing a forum for thought and conversation about Shakespeare in adaptation, this screening will feature an introduction and discussion led by Melanie C. Hawthorne, Professor, Department of International Studies, Texas A&M University.
This event is made possible through the generous support of the Texas A&M University GLBT Resource Center.
