The EmilyAnn Shakesperience for Elementary Students
March 22, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm CDT
FreeThe beauty of Shakespeare is that his plays and characters are ones that children, even young ones, can identify with and learn from. This workshop is intended for ages 5-12 and educators who teach this age range. Children come to Shakespeare with an open mind and no preconceptions of character or how something is to be done. Participants will engage in activities that allow children to explore Shakespeare with open minds, and learn of his life, times, and works through play and fun.
Founded in 1998, the EmilyAnn Theatre offers a variety of Shakespeare-themed experiential learning programs, including Shakespeare Under the Stars, a 6-week intensive in which students assist in fabricating their own costumes and set, and perform 9 consecutive full-length performances of one of Shakespeare’s plays; after-school drama classes; a two-week Shakespeare day camp; and full theatrical seasons for adults and children alike.
We are excited to collaborate with the EmilyAnn Theatre to host an adaptation of their celebrated Shakesperience program in the Brazos Valley.
This event requires registration.
This event is made possible through the generous support of Texas A&M Department of English and the World Shakespeare Bibliography.
