The Emilyann Theatre Shakesperience for Jr. High and High School
March 22, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am CDT
FreeStudents are often intimidated by Shakespeare. They think they can’t understand the language, or that the themes do not apply to them and this time period. This workshop, intended for ages 13-18, will help students alleviate these fears and see that Shakespeare can even be fun! This is an active workshop that will engage students and teachers in a playful, stress-free environment.
Founded in 1998, the EmilyAnn Theatre offers a variety of Shakespeare-themed experiential learning programs, including Shakespeare Under the Stars, a 6-week intensive in which students assist in fabricating their own costumes and set, and perform 9 consecutive full-length performances of one of Shakespeare’s plays; after-school drama classes; a two-week Shakespeare day camp; and full theatrical seasons for adults and children alike.
We are excited to collaborate with the EmilyAnn Theatre to host an adaptation of their celebrated Shakesperience program in the Brazos Valley.
